Creamy warm christmas porridge with the taste of carrot cake


This porridge is highly recommended for cold mornings! Starting your day with a smoothie or something cold when it's winter is not the best thing for your digestive system. Therefore, a porridge is a really nice alternative. Some people love their oatmeal in the morning, but it can also be one of those things that make you really sleepy thought the day. Read more about this here (it's in Norwegian). This porridge was introduced to us in Sri Lanka, where they call in Shiva porridge. It's low in sugar and gives you long lasting energy and keeps you full for a long time. According to Ayurvedic belief spices help to balance your body. It also tastes like carrot cake, which is not a bad thing. 

Shiva porridge (1 portion, 7 minutes):

  • 2 dl coconut milk

  • 1 grated carrot

  • 1 banana

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp cardamom

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • a pinch of salt


  • 1 tbs maca powder


Start by grating one carrot, and adding it to a pot together with the rest of the ingredients. Stir around and blend it until smooth. Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!
